New Year plans? Here are some ideas

31st December is fast approaching, a day of accomplishment and the usual revelry. Accomplishment because our planet completes yet another revolution around the Sun, which is not a big deal for it. But for the Humans on it, the night of 31st is a time they let their guards down and party crazy till the New Year’s first sun rays fall on them.

Pretty sure you must be planning to celebrate the last night of this year and welcome a whole new decade in our lives! So where have you reached with your plans? Or are you still finding ideas to make your 31st a memorable one? Here we are, with our help; some ideas if they entice you or spark new ones in your creative brains.

Dressing up for the occasion

Keep one thing in mind while deciding on attire and makeup – you are going to a party and dance hard till you get tired. Still, you ought to look like you are down for a big party out there.

  • You and others may decide on a theme for dressing, like the same color, design or wardrobe.

  • Heavy makeup is a big NO, as it is bound to come-off in heavy dancing. You may add some glitters though, to actually shine at the party!

  • Don’t wear anything that will restrict your movements. Your limbs should flexibly move in all directions; also ensure that you won’t suffer any embarrassing wardrobe malfunction while dancing!

Where to party?

Two basic options will come up in your mind for this – any public place or your home. Along with your near and dear ones, either you decide to ring in the New Year at any pub, bar or any special open-air, beach-side event for the occasion; or you can rather plan to be the host and throw one customized party to all.

You will enjoy a lot in both ways; if you finalize on the former one, go through the schedule, what all activities will happen, what’s in the menu drinking and eating menu, etc. to avoid leaving the party with boredom and disappointment. Better still, host or plan a house party, that way, you will decide on everything that will happen! Read ahead for some tips on that.

Foodstuff and the Decorations

  • You can plan a mini cooking session for midnight supper. Everyone will chip in with one ingredient and together you can bake a yummy meal.

  • When you send out the invitees, inform them that it’s a BYOA (Bring Your Own Appetizer) party. Everyone will get to taste something new! You should also serve boozy desserts.

  • As for the decorations, you can use glittery and metallic Christmas ornaments, handmade paper snowflakes hanging around, build a disco wall.

  • You can make customized noisemakers or ask the guests to bring one of their own. Make an Instagram friendly balloon wall or a photo booth/corner for capturing memorable moments together.

  • Same with confetti poppers, either you make your own or let everyone bring them for the party. Light up all the candles you own and make the atmosphere ambient.

Fun activities to indulge in

Parties happen all the time, so it can easily turn a boring and dull affair. Why not spice up your party with some engaging and exciting games! You can keep a “Noisemaker” contest like who’s the loudest or who the musical one is, and keep prizes for the winners.

Another activity could be writing predictions for the New Year for others anonymously and then have a reading/guessing session! Who wants to know what’s in store for them in 2020?

That one big moment

So what is the big difference between this New Year’s party and the other ones? Simple, the stroke of midnight! The reason we all will party for! Make it a grand and truly memorable moment for everyone with some real creativity and suspense.

  • Keep a countdown wall for the big night. This way everyone will eagerly wait for the big moment.

  • Switching-off electricity and turning it on at the exact moment is an age-old thing, but has it ever gone out of fashion or boring?

  • Rig some confetti or sparklers to automatically blow up right at midnight! Switch-off the lights and stay quiet for 5 mins until midnight, and then, break into wild celebrations from that exact moment with synchronized noisemaking!

So, here are a few tips to get you ready for the best night of the year.

1. Be responsible.

It doesn’t matter how much fun you have on New Years, don’t drive drunk! You’re body is still recovering from the last party, drunk driving will land you a speeding ticket, fines and or jail time. Drunks become very paranoid when their intoxicated. They may fight, argue, accuse you of doing things that you never even did. They may even take their anger out on your car. It’s best to have a designated driver, because it is an honor and a privilege to get to share New Years with friends and family.

2. It is a night to start fresh.

Write down your goals and set some new goals, try to keep them simple and achievable. Have fun, but enjoy the time you spend with your family, friends and loved ones. A fresh start is all it takes.

3. Party with like – minded individuals. If you find yourself in a group of alcoholics you probably won’t have much fun. Find a group of people who share your love for music, movies, tv shows, movies, sports, comics and more. Try to make New Years a night to share fun stories with your friends, have a great time and stay out late.

4. Make some resolutions, even if they are not your typical resolutions. Resolutions are usually made when you’ve failed the past year, but why not make a fresh start on a new year?
