7 Things you never thought are Prohibited on a Plane

When it comes to carrying our luggage, our belongings, then traveling by air is not as easy as traveling by road. Simply because, by roads, we mostly travel by our own vehicles, but the airplanes are public properties. It is riskier to take certain items via planes because even a small mistake can endanger the lives of hundreds of passengers!

People in the US do know about a few common items which are forbidden in carry-on bags. Some of them are knives, liquids more than 3.4 ounces, and weapons e.g. guns. But the TSA (Transportation Security Administration) has a long list of those and some of the items will make you think – is this also really on the list?

Bowling Pins

These are sports equipment which can also be used as bludgeoning objects. Hence they are prohibited in the cabin of the plane. Similar examples are bats and clubs. You never know who will use such objects to seriously harm fellow passengers. You can, however, take bowling balls in the carry-on luggage.

Fencing Foils

The TSA doesn’t want you to take Fencing Foils because it is in the category of weapons which can cut or thrust. If you are taking any sharp object in the checked baggage, the TSA advice us to sheath or securely wrap them to avoid any injury to the inspectors and baggage handlers.

Cast-Iron Cookware

If you think it is just a cooking item, then think again. People can wield it as a weapon and cause some serious damage to others. Maybe that is why the TSA has banned these items from keeping in carry-on luggage. The cast-iron skillet needs to be checked though.

Magic 8 Balls

Magic 8 balls are such that you cannot take them in carry-on bags but you can definitely take them in checked bags. The reason could be because these balls have a lot of volumes or the liquid substance inside.

Gel Heating Pads

This item can only be taken in the checked bags, but you can take the electric heating pads in the carry-on bags. This could be because of the same general reason for all liquids and gel products needed to be in containers of less than 3.4 ounces, which should fit into one quart-sized bag.

Pool Cues

This is another sports item banned in carry-on bags and only need to be taken in the checked bags. It is easy to guess that this item can be used as a bludgeon in the cabin and hence the TSA has taken this step for Pool Cues.

Cooking Spray

Aerosols are hazardous to everyone as they are flammable, even if the volume is less. Hence, they are not allowed through security. You shouldn’t carry Cooking Spray even in checked luggage.

Some things are such that by looking at them, they may seem harmless; but they can pose a risk in ways unimaginable to you. It is always better, to be safe than feeling regret and sorry later, to leave behind the items banned by the TSA and enjoy your journey without any worries.
